About INPERIL
In peril, there's hope.
Inperil is a nature and environment publication, written by staff and volunteers, about the wild places, species, and communities at risk, and about the people working to save them.
Our perspective fits in one line: in peril, there's hope. Every story we publish names what's at stake honestly, and then looks for the light at the end of the tunnel.
What we publish
- Stories: reported, long-form features, built to be read slowly.
- Briefs: short, sourced updates you can read in two minutes.
- The Sunday Brief: our free weekly newsletter, every Sunday at 4 p.m.
How we work
We cite our sources in the text, so you can check them. We correct mistakes openly. Our stories come from two places: Inperil's staff, credited as Inperil Staff, and volunteer contributors, credited by name. All of them care about the places they cover. Many of our volunteers are just getting started, and we think that's a strength.
How we're funded
Inperil is free to read. Our apparel is printed on demand, so we never buy inventory, and every sale helps cover hosting and tools.
